Loads of kids in Oakland have access to high-quality music education. The problem is, the majority of those kids live in the more well-to-do areas. Do you know who doesn't have access? East Oakland. Well, what then? East Oakland has just as much, if not more, talent, curiosity, and thirst for knowledge as other areas, but the problem is ACCESS. The music programs aren't there, serving their community, so they just don't have access.

So what is the solution? Harmony Project! We design small programs at local elementary and middle schools; we invest in the community; and we create the programming in a responsive and involved way.

Check out our Facebook page below for recent updates: https://www.facebook.com/HarmonyProjectOakland/

Our Oakland program started remotely in September 2020 with 6 students from Urban Promise Academy Middle School (UPA) in Fruitvale, and now we serve students at three sites: Oakland Unity Middle School, Arroyo Viejo Community Center in East Oakland, and Urban Promise Academy in the Fruitvale neighborhood. We also have a fourth site in partnership with the Oakland Symphony MUSE program at Markham Elementary School in the Eastmont neighborhood.

Our vision is to expand our offerings so that every child in Oakland who wants to play an instrument can get access to an instrument and musical training.

Our mission is to go to the most underserved areas of Oakland and give music to the kids in these communities. With your financial support, we can keep the music going; we can keep striving, keep inspiring, keep believing, and keep loving these kids—all through the lens of music.

We appreciate your support through Fundrazr, but if you want to write a check directly, and not involve the service fees, please write a check to Community Initiatives, put Harmony Project OAKLAND in the memo, and send it to:
